Cowpokes 2012-2013

Howdy from the kindergarten class of 2012-2013.

Our first unit was based on the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see?"  The kids were given a small bag of M & M's and counted and sorted them.  Of course, they ate them, too! YUM!

Groundhog Day

Our groundhog celebration began on Wednesday with our class predictions.

On Thursday, we watched the real groundhog, Phil. He saw his shadow...six more weeks of winter. Really?

!00 Days SMARTER!!!

Wow! It's hard to believe it was the 100th day of school!
We began the day by making masks and hats.

Then, it was time for a Kindergarten Cowpoke tradition...the 100 balloon pop. Each balloon has a number. When the balloon is popped, the student gets the number and puts it in a baggie. When all the balloons have been popped, we create a 100 chart with the numbers.

Then, we made 100 Day Trail Mix and used Cheerios and Fruit Loops to make necklaces. The Cowpokes made a pattern of 10 Cheerios and 10 Fruit Loops until they had 100 pieces of cereal.

Zero the Hero made his final appearance today... :(
Every Cowpoke had his picture made with him. Yee-Haw!! It was an AWESOME day!!

Party Time!

We made lots of yummy things to eat...snowmen, Christmas trees and reindeer. We watched the Polar Express and drank hot chocolate.

I gave each cowpoke a gift...made especially for them!

They each got a fleece scarf to keep them warm!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Christmas

We received a special package with the return address of the North Pole. It was even COLD! Inside the package was our new elf straight from Santa. His name is Jingles and he sits on top of our SmartBoard and watches us. Every night he reports back to Santa on our behavior. The first night he brought back the Elf on a Shelf movie starring himself! Merry Christmas!!!
